36 Hours in London

Matt and I had the good fortune to spend last weekend in London. We flew in Saturday morning, arriving in the downtown area by 9 am. The sun began to shine as we walked through the park near Kensington Palace. You could see alot of the damage from the strong winds that pounded Europe last week. The temperature was probably between 45 - 50 degrees, so the park was full of joggers, soccer players, and horse back riders. It was neat to see, sort of a Central Park of London.
We continued on to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. It was a hourde of tourists and was difficult to get a view at times, but we were glad to have seen the spectacle. Afterwards, we headed out to the suburbs to eat at a famous fish and chips place. Yum yum - great cod!
In late afternoon, we made our way to the Tower of London. We walked around the area before deciding to go to the the Tower Bridge Museum. We saw some great views of the city before the sunset.
After checking into the hotel, we made our way to the Picadilly Circus area, walked around Trafalger Square, and had some dinner. We had a great time being out on the streets. The town felt so alive, full of young people out enjoying the theater and pubs. But we had a full day ahead of us on Sunday, so we had to call it a night.
Sunday morning we walked around the area of Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately, the church was closed for visitors. We decided to go back to Tower of London and do the tour there. On to tour the last house of Sigmund Freud (we got to see the famous couch!) and a stop into Madame Tussaud's. Matt and I have never been to a wax museum before. It was quite impressive, but I think we have met our lifetime quota of wax museums now. :)
Back to Zurich, the flight time between here and there is 1 hour 10 minutes. Amazing...
It's quite tempting to go back for another weekend trip!
