Superbowl auf Deutsch

Sunday night we went to the Marriott Hotel in Zürich to watch the first half of the Superbowl. This was one of the few places around town that was broadcasting the game. Kick off wasn't until 12:30 a.m. here, so the people gathered in the bar were more dedicated fans. A mix of all nationalities, but we heard quite a few speaking American English, which was refreshing. There were moments when I forgot we were sitting in Switzerland and not some sports bar back in the States.
The Marriott had attempted to get an American feed with English speaking broadcasters, but were having problems with their satellite. We ended up receiving a German broadcast of the game - WITHOUT COMMERCIALS! It certainly was a different look at the Superbowl. For instance, Boris Becker - tennis extraordinare, was one of the broadcasters. Also, without commercials, we saw all the team huddles and sideline activity in between plays. We both enjoyed hearing the Star Stangled Banner played by Billy Joel. It's been months since we've experienced that.
During halftime, we walked back home and caught the last part on our Slingbox. It was a fun, but very late night!
