Saturday Hiking Near Vattis

On Saturday we were invited to join some friends for a hike near their mountain house about an hour and a half away from Zürich. We drove with them down the valley on dead end road where we parked the car and started our hike on the path that lead up into the mountains. This was a great chance for Matt and I to visit some of the nooks of Switzerland not serviced by train, our usual method of transport.
We had a typical Swiss picnic, followed with a beer at a hut at the base of the paths. Almost all of the other guests at the restaurant hut were mountain bikers. We made our way back to our friend's house were we had another beer on their lawn and took in more views of the valley and Calanda mountain. The mountain named after the beer Calanda, or what, maybe it's the other way around :)
Next trip, we'll try to conquer Calanda, the mountain, not the beer.
