Paris - Day Four

Our last day in Paris we visited the Catacombs and enjoyed the Jardin des Tuilleries. The Catacombs are a series of underground tunnels created in Roman times when the city used the network for quarrying purposes. In the 18th century after the closing of local cemeteries due to disease, they began using the abandoned quarries as bone storage. It's a humbling site to see.
After the Catacombs we lightened things up by visiting the statues and gardens at Tuilleries. This park sandwiched between the Arch de Triomphe/Champs Elysees and the Louvre Museum was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. There were people out floating mini sailboats in the fountain, eating ice cream cones, reading, and enjoying the cafe located in the middle of the park. Definitely a great way to wrap up the trip before grabbing our luggage, saying goodbye to Nikki and Troy, and heading back to Switzerland.
