Igloo Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland
One of the many opportunities Europe has presented itself that I simply could not resist was to stay overnight in an igloo hotel. While I would say what we slept in was more a snow cave adorned with slabs of ice rather than an actual igloo. And come to think of it, it was more of a snow cave hostel then hotel. We had one of the few private rooms while most shared 6 bunk "caves". Of course, bathroom facilities are short too. There was no running water, flushing toliets, or showers. Our bed consisted of a super warm 2-person sleeping bag and a clean sheet on top of some bear skin rugs. I may have overindulged while booking and selected the Igloo Hotel's only Romantic Suite available. Which meant we had not only our own toliet and "sink" area (remember no running water) but the most important part, the private jacuzzi patio. It rocked. To be in a hot tub at night in the mountains of Switzerland while the looking at the gorgeous stars was amazing.
We had a very nice fondue dinner, met some great people, sat by the fire, but unfortunately couldn't snoe show because the conditions were not good. But the peace and quiet of the mountain at night was definitely worth the trip.
Our evening approach into the "Igoo Hotel" located strategically between 2 ski runs just below a mountain restaurant above Gstaad, Switzerland. They started a bonfire and cocktails just after we arrived.

Yes, this trailer looking thing was actually a hot sauna for the guests. We didn't check it out it out in-action, though I'm sure with a group of sweaty Swiss people sitting in it, it would be quite lovely.
The Romantic Suite in the Igloo Hotel. The weird treasure chest thing sitting on a block of ice next to the bed actually glowed with battery operated Ikea lights. Matt thought it was some sort of bedside nightlight system but my belief is that it was a crazy European mini bar. No seriously though, the treasure chest included a shot of vodka, breath mints, and a condom. I mean, how sweet is that?!?

Sink, mirror, glasses and thermos of hot water on left...oh and did I mention the hairdryer? Yes, there was a hair dryer and an outlet built into the ice wall. I didn't try it.

The big bump thing is the Igloo Hotel - or Iglu Dorf - as properly named. The outside area had a fantastic bonfire, lounge chairs, and honors bar. Inside we had some fondue and a Romantic Suite for 2! It was awesome :)
