Though it's been a busy week, there's always time for Matt and I to host some fellow Iowans :) My cousin's girlfriend, Britney, has been in Germany on a school program and had a weekend to travel with her roommate Kelly. They thankfully arrived with only a small delay - those German trains aren't always as punctual as you think. After dropping their bags they were quickly off to walk the Altstadt (old town) of Zürich. On Saturday morning after a pancake breakfast, they took a daytrip to Rhein Falls. We had a taco fiesta that evening, and Matt walked them over to Langstrasse, another popular nightlife area in Zürich. Meanwhile, I stayed in bed as illness crept into my body once again. Their last day we watched some of the Zürich Marathon, saw some alphorns, and took a boat ride on the lake.
Britney and Kelly couldn't have been any more gracious of guests. It was inspiring to see them travel on a shoestring budget, one that makes the backpacker lifestyle look like a life of luxury!Their visit was a reminder to me that each trip Matt and I take is a blessing. It truly is your attitude and the simple things on vacation that can make your trip.
